"Just wanted to
throw my 2 cents. I am the team leader at the University of Louisville.
We used PE's ECU for the last two years with much success.
I would certainly recommend it (especially for teams new to fuel
injection, as we were). We received tech support that was out of this
world. They completely walked us through any trouble we were
having."

"PE is awesome! This
ECU
is easy to tune and the price is great. What else could you want? The
service is awesome and has yet to be matched by anyone else we deal with.
These guys rock."

"Our Haltech E6K had
a bad driver we bought a new ECU from PE. Brian has been so helpful on this
forum, the price is great, and it didn't have to come form Australia. Hard
combination to beat."

PE-ECU-1
|
|
Our newest ECU, the
PE-ECU-1, is a completely adjustable engine control system well suited for
both high-revving small displacement engines as well as larger capacity
8-cylinder power plants. The system controls both the fuel injection and
ignition responsibilities for most two and four-stroke engines. In its
simplest configuration, the PE-ECU-1 system requires only a couple of
inputs to function properly. Crank position and an indication of engine
load are all that's required to get an engine up and running. The position
of the crankshaft is determined by using a standard steel pickup wheel
attached to the engine along with a Hall Effect or magnetic sensor. This
combination of hardware allows the ECU to determine engine speed and
crankshaft position very precisely.
|
|
Engine load can come from
one of three sources. Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP), throttle position
or a 0-5 volt signal can be used. All of these options are available simply
by configuring the Monitor Software.
For a complete description
of all of the system's capabilities, please refer to our User's Manual and
PE-ECU-1 System Datasheet on the Support Page.

ECU Monitor Software
ECU
Monitor Software is an easy to use, Windows based program that can be
used to tune the PE-ECU-1 engine control unit. The software is provided at
no extra charge with any purchase of an engine control system. The
latest version of the software can also be downloaded for evaluation from
our Support Page.
|
|
|
ECU Wire Harness
Each Performance Electronics,
Ltd. control package is supplied with one un-terminated wire harness. This
harness can also be purchased separately if one ECU will be used on
multiple engines. The harness consists of the mating plug for the ECU and 6
feet of electrical wire on each of the required connector pins. The harness
does not contain connectors to any other hardware such as sensors.
|
|
|
Crank Pickup Wheel
The ECU uses the Crank
Pickup Wheel to determine the position of the crankshaft. A pickup wheel
must be used with every system in order to generate this required reference
signal. Standard wheel sizes come in 2.4", 4" and 7.75"
diameters. Smaller or larger sized wheels will work with the system
provided the 12-1 tooth profile is maintained. Call Performance Electronics,
Ltd. for details regarding alternate wheel sizes. Drawings for the wheels
can be downloaded from our Support Page.
